Norwegian Crafts at Tromsø Open: Panel Conversation and Artist Presentations at Kysten Studios
As part of the opening of Tromsø Open, Norwegian Crafts joined Tromsø Open and Nordnorsk Kunstmuseum (Northern Norwegian Art Museum) for an evening event on the role of crafts in society. 2025 is the 50th anniversary of the Norwegian Association for Craft Artists, Norwegian Crafts' founder. The event aimed to shine a spotlight on some of the ways craft and craft artists engage with community and society at large.
The event took take place at Kysten atelierfelleskap in Tromsø, Friday 24 October, 18:00–19:15.
PROGRAMME:
- Welcome and brief introduction by Tromsø Open and Norwegian Crafts
- Artist presentations by Marit Ellisiv Landsend and Marsil Andjelov Al-Mahamid
- Panel discussion on the role of craft in society, led by Charis Gullickson, Chief Curator at Nordnorsk Kunstmuseum
Norwegian Crafts' Pop-Up and knowledge sharing
As part of Tromsø Open's internal knowledge sharing day on Sunday 26 October, Norwegian Crafts arranged a pop-up hosted by project managers Tonje Kjellevold and Leah Svalastoga Kahn. The pop-up featured a run-through of Norwegian Crafts' programming and support schemes, geared towards giving Tromsø-based artists the information they need to access these schemes.
