Malin Bülow – Artist in residence at Tecnológico de Monterrey in 2024
Supported by Norwegian CraftsFrom September to December 2024, Oslo-based artist Malin Bülow was an artist in residence with Laboratorio Arte AC on the Monterrey Campus of Tecnológico de Monterrey, Mexico. During her stay, Bülow collaborated with students and staff from several of the university's education and research fields, such as architecture students, a dance company, the biotechnology department, and academic staff in music. The collaborations resulted in performances presented at Parque Central and Espacio de Reflexión.
The Craft, Art, Science, and Technology Residency offers opportunities to develop artistic practices, new ideas, or production methods, emphasizing interdisciplinary collaboration with artists, students, and experts from various fields and faculties. Norwegian or Norway-based craft artists and duojárat working at the intersection of craft, science, and technology can apply. Applicants cannot be enrolled in study programs (including secondary school, bachelor’s, or master’s programs) at the time of application or during the residency period. Malin Bülow
Malin Bülow's work resides at the intersection of textile, performance, installation, and sculpture.
She received her BFA at Gerrit Rietveld Academie, Amsterdam (2012) and her MFA at the National Academy of Fine Arts, Oslo (2016). She also holds a MSc in Neuroscience from Vrije Universiteit, Amsterdam (2008) and a BSc in Molecular Biology from Lund University, Lund (2006).
Her work has been exhibited at venues such as Lyon Contemporary Art Biennale (FR) (2019), Oslo Opera House (NO) (2020), Malmö Art Museum (SE) (2020), Bodø Biennale (NO) (2022), Vigeland Park (NO) (2021), Lustwarande (NL) (2021), Piero Atchugarry Gallery (US) (2023), Contextile – Contemporary Textile Art Biennial (PT) (2022) and CHART at Kunsthall Charlottenborg, (DK) (2019). Bülow's work is included in the permanent collections of Malmö Art Museum and MAC – Modern Art Museum in Lyon.
