Laboratorio Arte AC and Norwegian Crafts are currently accepting applications from qualified candidates for a residency at the Craft, Art, Science and Technology Residency at Tecnológico de Monterrey. These programmes aim to provide unique and diverse opportunities for artists in the craft field, namely by offering Norway-based craft artists a place at renowned schools, workshops and residencies.

Who can apply?
Norwegian or Norway-based craft artists and duojárat working at the intersection of craft, science, and technology. Applicants cannot be enrolled in study programs (including secondary school, bachelor’s, or master’s programs) at the time of application or during the residency period.

About the programme
The Craft, Art, Science, and Technology Residency is a six-week stay at Laboratorio Arte AC, located on the Monterrey Campus of Tecnológico de Monterrey, Mexico. The residency offers opportunities to develop artistic practices, new ideas, or production methods, emphasizing interdisciplinary collaboration with artists, students, and experts from various fields and faculties.

The residency includes:

  • Up to 145,000 MXN for materials, electronics, specialized equipment, and software needed for project production, funded by Laboratorio Arte AC. Final budgets are determined based on project descriptions and schedules by Tec de Monterrey.
  • Artist’s fee of NOK 25,000, funded by Norwegian Crafts.
  • Travel and accommodation support of NOK 45,000 from Norwegian Crafts.
  • A private apartment on campus or a nearby hotel during the residency period.
  • Two weekday meals provided at campus cafeterias.
  • Transportation between the airport and the campus.
  • Full access to the lab facilities, including photo studio, paint booth, 3D printing, CNC routers and laser, computers and graphic processing software, sound equipment, video projection tools, and metal and wood processing.
  • Access to additional workshops and labs of Tecnológico de Monterrey upon agreement.
