Generation WHY is a Scandinavian travelling exhibition initiated by the association behind the Norwegian Villvin Crafts Market on the occasion of the 300th anniversary of Risør city in 2023. The exhibition opened at Risør Kunstpark in July 2023, was shown in The Round Tower in Copenhagen in 2024, and will be presented at Rian Design Museum in Falkenberg in 2025.

Generation WHY collects a group of Scandinavian artists and designers from "Generation Y" (born between 1977 and 1994). The curators from different Nordic countries, selected artists and designers from Denmark, Norway, Sweden, and Iceland that explore existential themes such as trauma, grief, physical ailments, gender, and climate issues, with materials like textile, glass, ceramics, metal, wood, pigment, dust, and fungal mycelium.

Norwegian Crafts has contributed to Generation WHY with artistic advisory for Villvin in the early stages of the project, support to the exhibition catalogue, and to the opening at Risør Kunstpark. The organisation will also support the transport of artworks from Rian Design Museum back to the participating artists that are based in Norway.
