Artist in Residence at Cerámica Suro

Cerámica Suro was founded in 1951 and is a family-run factory in Guadalajara, Mexico, led by José Noé Suro. It specialises in producing tiles, tableware, and decorative objects, primarily for the restaurant and hotel industry. Additionally, Cerámica Suro offers residency programmes for artists interested in large-scale ceramic production, enabling them to expand their artistic practice and gain expertise in production techniques in a professional setting. By 2025, over 500 international artists have participated in the residency.
Norwegian Crafts offers Norwegian/Norway-based artists or duojárat a two-month residency as an artist in residence at Cerámica Suro.

Who Can Apply?
Norwegian or Norway-based craft artists or duojárat primarily working with clay/ceramics. The applicant cannot be enrolled in any study programs (including high school, bachelor's, or master's programmes) at the time of application or during the residency period.
The Residency Includes:
- 60,000 NOK in financial support for travel and stay, covered by Norwegian Crafts.
- A personal workspace in the main workshop.
- Access to four kilns (Muffle 950°, Low-fire 1060°C, Stoneware 1220°C, Faenza 1140°C
- Access to clay (Grog clay, Paper clay white, Red body paper clay, Stoneware and Faenza clay) equipment, and glazes for production by agreement
- Networking opportunities with other international and local artists.
