Visitor programme October 2024
Norwegian Crafts hosts four international guests for a visitor programme 24–29 October 2024. The first part of the programme coincided with the Norwegian Association for Arts and Crafts' Annual Craft Exhibition (Årsutstillingen) at Køpmannsgata Ung Kunst in Trondheim and the art festival Trondheim Open. The second part of the programme took place in Bergen.
Taking part in the visitor programme were:
- Programme manager Takako Nakahora and chief of communications Yukari Osaki from 21_21 Design Sight in Tokyo
- Owner and director of Formation gallery and Format Art Space in Copenhagen Anne Riber
- Singapore-based freelance art writer Reena Devi
Starting in Trondheim, the guests visited the studios of local artists Ingunn S. Ystad, Eva Margrethe Ballo, Sophia Lee, Matilde Westavik Gaustad, Veslemøy Lilleengen, Per Stian Monsås, Erland Leirdal, Monika Mørck and Hilde Betten Pedersen.
They also got a guided tour of the Norwegian Association for Arts and Crafts’ Annual Craft Exhibition (Årsutstillingen) and a tour of parts of the collection of Nordenfjeldske Kunstindustrimuseum – National Museum of Decorative Arts and Design. During the stay, the art festival Trondheim Open hosted its opening party and Norwegian Crafts had a launch event for the eighth issue of The Vessel 'Craft in Public Space', which included a walk to see public artworks in Trondheim.
The second and final part of the programme took place in Bergen. Over three days, the guests visited the studios of local artists Eleanore Giveau, Lorie Ballage, Heidi Bjørgan, Daniela Bergschneider, Eirik Falckner, Signe Halle, Linda Morrel, Astrid Sleire, Marianne Moe, and Mari Nordahl.
They also visited local art institutions such as KRAFT and Bergen Kunsthall, and got a sneak peek of artist Kristen Keegan’s upcoming exhibition at Entrée. Nakako Nakahora and Yukari Osaki from 21_21 Design Sight also saw Chance as a Choice at Northing Space, part one of a collaborative exhibition, where part two Fragile Resistance was on view at S12 Gallery and Glass Workshop.
