Ceramic Brussels talks programme

For the 2025 edition of the art fair Ceramic Brussels, Norwegian Crafts collaborates with the fair on a special focus on the Norwegian ceramic scene. In addition to the five Norwegian galleries participating in the fair, there will also be a talks programme consisting of three panel conversations.

Clay Meets Painting
This conversation will explore parallels and crossovers between working artistically with ceramics and painting or drawing. The panel will include artists who take a painterly approach to working with clay or incorporate other modes of expression alongside their ceramic art. The conversation will also touch upon the gallerist / curatorial perspective of combining works of ceramics and painting.

Ceramics in Public Space
In this conversation, the artists in the panel will present some of their projects for art in public space and discuss the possibilities and challenges of working with clay to be shown outside a gallery space. The talk will also dive into some of the considerations and processes specific to projects commissioned for public institutions such as schools, nursing homes, and prisons.

Ceramics: Art and Industry
Industrial production is an important part of ceramic and cultural history. This conversation will explore how artists and industry professionals can collaborate and exchange knowledge and skills through ceramic processes, and some of the gains both parties may have from such meeting points.

About Ceramic Brussels
Ceramic Brussels is an international art fair dedicated to ceramics. The fair aims to showcase the vitality and diversity of contemporary ceramics practice, support contemporary creation, and stimulate new exchanges between artists, institutions, galleries, and the audience.
The first edition of Ceramic Brussels, the first international contemporary art fair dedicated to ceramics, took place from 25–18 January 2024 on the Tour&Taxis site, in the heart of Europe. The fair welcomed 55 international galleries and presented close to 200 artists to 12.900 visitors.
